UB’s 30 years anniversary started Yesterday Thursday, 25 May 2023 with a range of public exhibitions to showcase UB’s expansion and successes of its staff, students and alumni.
UB was first a University Centre before being transformed into a full University in 1993 with four Faculties: Arts, Education, Science and Social and Management Sciences. Today UB has 11 Establishments (that is eight Faculties, two Colleges and one School).
The successes are many. “Today we celebrate where we come from, where we are and where we want to be”, said Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, during his welcome address. The Vice-Chancellor saluted the prowess of the astute, indefatigable and seasoned administrator, Professor Dorothy Limunga Njeuma, who as pioneer Vice-Chancellor of UB nurtured the University of Buea to a university of reference.
He thanked Professor Kingsley Lyonga Ngange, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Cooperation and relations with the Business World and his team for the successful organization of the event.
The event was also characterized by an edifying Ecumenical Service in which the Rev. Mukoko Mbue (himself a first batch student of UB) challenged the University Community to strife in making an impact wherever they are.
Everyone went home today knowing that although UB is young, it is strong enough to innovate the future.
