University Games 2023: Celebrating the Champions

Yes! The Games have come and gone but the dust is yet to settle.  This is due to the remarkable performance of the UB Athletes in which they came back to their Buea campus with 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 10 Bronze Medals.  UB won overall 7th position out of 22 institutions and was 4th among the State Universities.  It should be noted that UB also won the First Prize for Civic Excellence.

Inspired by this performance the Department of Students Affairs organized an event on Wednesday,  24 May 2023 in the Herbert Nganjo Endeley Amphitheatre to honour the Athletes and their Coaches.  Prizes were awarded to the Medalists and their Coaches.

While presenting the Medalists to the University Community that came out to witness the event,  Professor Lucy Ndip, Director of Students Affairs thanked the Athletes and their Coaches for the commitment and dedication throughout the Games. She also thankedtheVice-Chancellor for facilitating all financial amd administrative processes for the effective take-off of the UB delegation to Ngaoundere.  “For the first time, Mr. Vice-Chancellor,  we did not go to the University Games as a  team…we went as a family”, she said.

To Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, UB is a place of pride. “My pride is justified. I have a lot of esteem for UB because everyday our students give us reasons to celebrate.”

The vibrations of the UB Fans Club crowned the event.
